Since the software was only used about 10 times per year, and only to assist others on forums who were learning or who had difficulties with data structures/normalization and modeling generally, it makes no sense to buy a full function product. I found the Toad Data Modeler freeware and used it up until earlier this year. When it was made no longer available, I looked around for other options. I've been retired 14 years and for most of the time (up to 2016 or so) I used the community edition of ErWin. I worked several years in database and data management and we used ErWin. I wanted a simple tool to help with logical and physical data models when responding to posters on a few database forums.
